BrainTrainUK Practitioners

Meet Our Practitioners

We are uncompromising in our selection of potential practitioners.

We have strict entry criteria – we require at least a Master’s degree in a related subject and/or extensive experience working with people in a clinical setting.

To work at BrainTrainWA practitioners must demonstrate an ability to work within a client-practitioner relationship and demonstrate a high level awareness of the challenges presented to those relationships within the field of mental health, and the responsibilities these challenges require of practitioners.

Training is part of the process and consists of courses in both the UK and abroad, using 3rd party trainers and our own in-house training to teach how we combine multiple modalities of Biofeedback and Applied Neuroscience with our in-house tools.

At BrainTrainWA, not only do we have our own internal support, we are also part of the world’s largest such support network, which includes supervision with the Susan Othmer, described by the Biofeedback Federation of Europe as ‘the world’s most respected clinician ’.

Applied Neuroscience is still a young field and can be likened to a an enormous cave to be explored, and we believe we have the best ‘torch’ to explore the cave right now.

Whilst the sophisticated neurofeedback technology  is a key part of your neurofeedback training,  every client is different and we believe the most important skill is the ability to take a client-centric approach to training. Our approach has been developed and refined over more than 20 years and continues to do so, led by clinical practice, making our approach the leading 21st century Neurofeedback approach based around the whole client.

We supplement this core approach with the sophisticated technology and brain-mapping capability offered by BrainMaster Technologies, Inc.

We see Neurofeedback as an important part of medicine that the medical community are still learning about. We complement and augment conventional medicine, spend a lot of time collaborating with the existing healthcare system, we are members of the Royal Society of Medicine and we have strong relationships with world-leading Dieticians, General Practitioners and Specialist Consultants.

Our experience at the highest levels of private and public healthcare means we lead the field in integrating Neurofeedback with your overall healthcare experience.

The BrainTrainWA standards of service

Although Neurofeedback is too new in the UK to be a regulated healthcare profession, and Neurofeedback is too new to be a regulated service, we have set standards to which we hold ourselves – our staff and practitioners – accountable. These Standards are broadly based on the principals of the standards adopted by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for care services and the Health and Care Professions Councils (HCPC) for health professionals. Although not all parts of the CQC and HCPC standards are relevant, we have adopted standards for the following areas for our services:

  • Respecting and involving people who use services
  • Consent to care and treatment
  • Care and welfare of people who use services
  • Cooperating with other providers
  • Safeguarding people who use services from abuse
  • Cleanliness and infection control
  • Safety and suitability of premises
  • Safety, availability and suitability of equipment
  • Requirements relating to workersNeurofeedback Professionals
  • Staffing
  • Supporting workers
  • Assessing and monitoring the quality of service provision
  • Complaints
  • Records
  • Fees
  • Financial position

For our Neurofeedback Professionals:

  • Character
  • Health
  • Standards of conduct, performance and ethics
  • Standards of proficiency
  • Standards of education and training
  • Standards of continuing professional development

These standards mean you can be confident that our Neurofeedback Practitioners can be trusted to provide safe, confidential and competent care to you and your loved ones. Our Character Standard builds upon the HCPC standards by also requiring that all our Neurofeedback Professionals are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (the new name for CRB checks) prior to employment.

If you have any questions about the experience or clinical standards of our staff and practitioners, please pick up the phone. Our service is 100% open and transparent and we’d be happy to speak with you. Please call BrainTrainWA on 0207 978 0186.
